Riftbound Colors Explained – Which Domain Should You Play

Heya everyone! Today we’re taking a look at the Domains in Riftbound — Riot Games’ Trading Card Game set in the League of Legends universe. In Riftbound, “Domains” are what other games might call “colors”, they’re the core identities that shape how your deck plays.

There are six unique Domains in total: Fury, Calm, Mind, Body, Chaos, and Order. Each one comes with its own strengths, mechanics, and playstyle, and every deck is built by combining two of them, depending on the Legend you choose to play. Whether you prefer fast-paced aggression, clever tricks, or late-game control, there’s a Domain combo that suits you.

This doesn’t mean a card is restricted to its Domain’s typical characteristics, we’ve already seen several cards that interact or synergize with other Domains, opening up creative possibilities in deckbuilding.

Before you dive into building your first deck, it helps to understand what each Domain brings to the table and that’s exactly what we’ll cover in this article.

Fury

Blazing Scorcher
Get Excited!
Jinx Demolitionist

Aggression, Conquer, Recklessness, Damage

Fury represents the color Red, and it’s all about aggression and relentless pressure. Fury decks aim to overwhelm opponents quickly, forcing them to shift into a defensive strategy. This puts your opponent in a tough position where every turn feels like a race against the clock.

Two key keywords commonly found in Fury are Accelerate and Assault, both designed to boost your aggression:

  • Accelerate lets your unit become Ready the same turn it’s played, allowing you to move it to the battlefield immediatly.
  • Assault increases a unit’s Might when it attacks, letting you push for bigger damage to conquer a battlefield.

Both keywords perfectly support Fury’s fast-paced, aggressive gameplan.

Another core mechanic in Fury is discard. Many Fury cards activate powerful effects by discarding cards from your hand. While this can deplete your resources quickly, the payoff is strong early- to mid-game momentum, just enough to stay ahead and keep your opponent on the back foot.

Calm

Defy
Block
Charm

Defense, Hold, Moving, Negation, Reaction, Tricks.

Calm represents the color Green, and it’s centered around reactive play and strategic defense. Instead of rushing down your opponent, Calm decks aim to respond, adapt, and control, adjusting their gameplan based on what the opposing deck is doing.

At its core, Calm is about protecting your units and holding key battlefields. It thrives in situations where you can shutdown your opponents attacks and make it difficult for them to conquer a battle field.

You have access to Reaction spells that offer defensive capabilies like denying your opponent’s spells, moving their units, or giving your units defensive keywords and a Might boost.

If you enjoy reading your opponent, reacting at the right time, and slowly gaining an advantage through smart plays, then Calm is the Domain for you.

Mind

Progress Day
Mushroom Pouch
Sprite Call

Plan ahead, Go Big, Gear, Hidden, Tricks, Draw.

Mind represents the color Blue, and its mainly about setting up and planning your upcoming turns. Hidden is a popular keyword in this Domain, which means you can play your cards and have them activate on future turns, leaving your opponent wondering what you’re plotting against them. Draw effects is a huge part in this Domain, as you’re often trying to out value the opposing player.

This Domain is perfect for those playing the for the late-game, trying to bluff opponent’s through the Hidden keyword and want high value generation deck.

Chaos

Morbid Return
Rebuke
Invert Timelines

Discard, Hidden, Interact with Trash, Selection

Purple color for Chaos! Chaos is popular for its ability to bring back cards from your trash to your hand, adding more resources to make more meaningful plays. You also have access to board control cards through returning units or even gear cards to the owner’s hand, putting them behind in the game or shutting down their strategy. You can also return your own units, which might come in handy where you need to reactivate certain effects.

The Hidden keyword is also popular in Chaos, allowing you to set up plays for future turns. Chaos is also known for its discard mechanics, not just your cards, but your opponents’ as well, cutting down on their resources and potentially messing up their hand.

Chaos appeals for players that want to make unpredictable plays and messing up the opponent’s strategy.

Body

Catalyst of Aeons
Primal Strength
Overt Operation

Ramp, Buffs, Win Fights, Ready

Body represents the Orange color. If you’re a ramp player, then Body should be on the top of your radar! You have access to multiple ramp cards in this deck, giving you additional Runes to make stronger plays on your upcoming turns.

Body also offers buffs! Giving your units extra Might to go for stronger attacks and secure kills to conquer a Battlefield. Ready is another unique strength for this Domain, as you have access to cards that can Ready your units, letting you gain value with them immediately.

If you’re a fan of Ramp decks, buffs, and dropping big bodes, then Body should definitely be the Domain to choose!

Order

Cruel Patron
Machine Evangel
Harnessed Dragon

Tokens, Kill, Deathknell, Sacrifice, Symmetric effects.

Order represents the Yellow Domain and is known for its focus on Tokens, sacrifice mechanics, and killing opponent’s units effects for board control.

Order excels at controlling the field by using card effects that kill enemy units, while also gaining access to powerful plays by sacrificing its own. This sacrifice mechanic not only enables stronger units to be played, but also creates synergy with Deathknell, a keyword that activates when a unit dies. Because sacrificing your own units is so common in this Domain, Deathknell becomes a natural fit.

Order also uses symmetric effects, cards that impact both players equally, such as “each player kills a unit.” These effects often favor Order, since it can turn its own losses into advantages thanks to Deathknell synergy.
